It’s just as important as Kashi or Rameshwaram, because it houses Lord Mahabaleshwara (Lord Shiva), who is believed to have given the original image of Shiva Linga (also called Atmalinga) to King Ravana. Located on Tunga river banks, Sringeri is best known for Adi Shankaracharya’s first mutt. The main attraction of Sri Sharadamba Temple and Vidya Shankara Temple are worth a visit.
